Take a Beating and Get Paid

May 1, 2012 Category :USA Poker Off

The only time you hope for a beat beat is if your playing at a bad beat jackpot table. Sit down at one of the Merge Network sites and have a chance to win 35% of the jackpot which is now over $140,000.

Be holding quad 7’s or better, lose the hand and get paid. At current levels it would be over $50,000! Not bad for losing.

The poker sites that operate on the Merge Network include PokerHost, Aced Poker, PDC Poker, Lock Poker and Carbon Poker. They all accept USA players and offer a nice first deposit bonus.

Our recommendation would be PokerHost. They give new players a 150% match bonus of their first deposit up to $750. They also have great banking options and outstanding customer service including a 1.800 number.

See the PokerHost review for more details and to sign up. PokerHost is a USA legal poker site that accepts USA players and does a great job getting USA credit cards approved.

Donald Trump and Online Poker

April 29, 2012 Category :Legal Off

Could Donald Trump be the first to operate on online poker room in the United States? Well if anyone could do it, it would be the Donald.

Donald Trump has long had interest in developing an online poker site and has critized the US government for not regulating online poker and taxing it. Now with New Jersey becoming close to passing state law to allow New Jersey residents the opportunity to play online poker (see New Jersey State Senate Passes Bill ), it may just happen.

Trump is in talks with online gaming giant 888 Holdings to offer an online poker room as soon as it is legalized and regulated in USA. Trump is not new to gaming as he has developed many land based casinos in the USA including Trump Plaza, Taj Mahal and Trump Marina.

Hopefully this will come to fruition soon. While the law up for vote only applies to New Jersey residents, it is huge step in the right direction to start to establish more USA online poker sites at the state level and we would assume eventually a national level.

New Jersey State Senate Passes Bill

April 23, 2012 Category :Legal Off

A bill allowing brick and mortar casinos to host online casino gaming passed the New Jersey state senate. The bill would allow residents of New Jersey access to online casino games and poker.

While the bill is only relevant to New Jersey, if the bill makes it through the House and and Governor’s office it is a first step towards online gaming becoming a reality in the USA. The servers hosting the casino games and poker must reside in Atlantic City but could be accessed by residents throughout the state.

Governor Chris Christie has stated he is favor of such a bill and he is expected to approve it. This is a way Atlantic City can revitalize it’s gaming revenue.

We hope this bill passes even though it would only allow New Jersey residents access to the online games. If the bill is passed it is a precedent for other states to allow such online gaming and eventually the Federal Government hopefully regulating online gaming and poker as a whole.

BetOnline Poker is upgrading their software so the poker room will be unavailable for a few days. There is no need for panic as they plan to have the poker room up and running shortly and it will be better than ever.

If you have money in your BetOnline Poker account it will be transferred to the sportsbook within 72 hours. At that point you can request a withdraw or wait for the poker room to come back online which shouldn’t be much after that. Antigua Considers New Case Against USA

April 15, 2012 Category :Legal 1

The island nation of Antigua is considering bring a new case against the USA in front of the World Trade Organization. This could be a major stepping stone to the USA either regulating online poker and gambling or the reversal of the UIGEA.

For those who not aware, back in 2005 Antigua raised suit to the WTO against the USA claiming foul that the USA was prohibiting Antigua access to the US market and was in violation of treaty obligations. You see gambling was/is a major employer and revenue generator for Antigua.

The WTO ruled in favor of Antigua and Antigua made a 3.4 billion dollar claim against the USA. Instead of paying and allowing Antigua access the US market, then president George W Bush authorized other “concessions” in different sectors. The concessions were never made public in the interest of National Security.

Now 7 years later, Antigua is once again considering a plea to the WTO to force the USA to allow USA residents to place wagers through companies located in Antigua. While it is unclear if the previous “concessions” have expired, this is one step closer to bringing online gaming access back to Antigua for US residents.
