What Is HUD and How Does It Affect Your Online Poker Experience?

July 31, 2020 Category :Online Poker 0

Whenever we review a poker site, we pay attention to its HUD. If you’ve ever read an online poker site review, you probably stumbled upon expressions such as “HUD” blocking. The truth is – you’ve come across HUD in poker before.

HUD stands for a head-up display. It’s basically anything that you see while playing online poker that’s not the game itself. This is usually all the additional information about you, other players, and the game you’re playing. This type of info is usually shown in different floating windows that are part of your poker game.

Some poker sites have a “richer” HUD, meaning there are more windows that show you more info about the game. However, having your game cluttered with all sorts of information can be tiresome, and that’s why some poker sites allow you to turn off parts of HUD (or the entire HUD) if you want. When that option is not available, that may get in the way of your game, which is sometimes not a pleasant sight.

On the other hand, some sites don’t show too much info, meaning their HUD is quite “poor.” Professional poker players who want to know every detail about the game are usually interested in having a rich hud with a lot of information.

When we review USA legal poker sites, we usually take this into account. Therefore, we rank the site’s HUD blocking, but also its ability to provide adequate information.

When Can HUD Really Help You?

HUD can help you with some straightforward tasks. For example, a HUD displaying previous actions of your opponents can help you adjust your strategy and, thus, improve your chances of winning.

Imagine noticing that someone folds really often and is very tight overall. After that, you can start playing more aggressively when facing the tight player and make the most of it. You can make this conclusion just by looking at the window displaying this type of information. That’s why some of the best online poker players actively follow all sorts of windows that give them information about the game.

One of the platforms that has the best HUD in the industry is definitely Americas Cardroom, which we consider the best USA legal poker site. Feel free to examine this platform and play around with the HUD it offers to find out more about it and learn to extract valuable information from it.
